Kimberly Isaac-House promoted to Midlands Reading Consortium Director for United Way of the Midlands

Columbia, SC (August 13, 2020) – United Way of the Midlands named Kimberly Isaac-House as the Director of the Midlands Reading Consortium (MRC). The Midlands Reading Consortium is a literacy initiative that works to enhance and supplement a love of reading for elementary school students throughout the Midlands by providing a library of services that include tutoring, guest reading opportunities, parent engagement events and book distributions. 

Isaac-House’s role as the Director of MRC incudes leading and overseeing the programs expansion in eight school districts, representing Fairfield, Lexington, Newberry, Orangeburg and Richland counties. She will work with the MRC Oversight Subcommittee to report on goals as outlined in MRC’s 2019-2022 Strategic Plan in addition to planning and developing future expansion of the services provided through the programs reach throughout United Way of the Midlands’ six county footprint. 

“Kimberly has a passion for advocating for the importance of investing in early childhood literacy for all children,” said Sara Fawcett, President and CEO of United Way of the Midlands. “Her commitment to United Way’s mission and her background in grassroots social work and working with communities is to ensure children live to their full potential, academically and socially.”

Prior to this position, Isaac-House held the role of MRC Program Manager. She is a graduate of Columbia College and has spent the last 28 years working with children and families in both South Carolina and North Carolina. 

“I believe we are morally obligated to help those in under-served communities by giving our time, talent and resources to uplift children and families,” said Isaac-House.
