Blind taste test of 20 different IPA’s becomes a BEER WAR at West Columbia Riverwalk and Ampitheater on Saturday, February 9 from 1pm to 6 pm. The Winning IPA will be announced at 4 pm. Admission is free. Moving on to Sunday, try a Beer Brunch of Manmosas. It’s a drink like Sofie-mosa from Goose Island, the Hasselhoffer mimosa with Schofferhofer, the classic Manmosa with Hoegaarden, and there’s food too. All at Liberty Taproom on Gervais from 10 am to 2 pm.
From Saturday to the next Sunday you can experience craft beer throughout Columbia and do things like cycle your way to pubs from Steel Hands Brewery and back for a cold one or two. There are fancy beer dinners at 116 Espresso, and thumb-wrestling at the War Mouth. Beer and Cookies Pairing with a NC favorite, Wicked Weed. On Thursday, February 14th you can take your Valentine to Dinner at Swamp Cabbage Brewery or Pours and S’mores at World of Beer. Devil’s Backbone will be the tasty brew for that one.
Fruity Friday at Craft and Draft on Devine features several beers: Red Hare, Wicked Weed, Palmetto, Catawba and cider from Bold Rock. Narragansett and Pearlz will be doing a stress ball lobster trap for a pair of tickets to the World Beer Festival. Then comes Saturday at the Fairgrounds with brews from all over and a few new ones not yet available in the market. The always fun World Beer Festival has grown to be a catalyst for Columbia Craft Beer Week. We’re not done yet though. We close out the week with a Columbia Craft Brewers Brunch at Craft & Draft, and the wonderful finale at City Roots, presented by F2T, the 3rd Annual Smoke and Beer Festival. Tickets are required for this event, but it’s a must for those who love our local chefs and their creativity with a little smoke and a lot of great beer. A delightful way to spend a Sunday.
