Lakewood Camping Resort Welcomes Horses and Riders from Across the Nation for 38th Annual American Heart Association Beach Ride

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C., Nov. 4, 2019 — Thousands of horses and riders will gallop to Lakewood Camping Resort on Wednesday, Nov. 6 through Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019 for the 38th Annual American Heart Association Beach Ride. The Myrtle Beach camping resort will transform into a 200-acre equestrian-friendly ranch for the horses taking part in the event that raises money for the American Heart Association.

In its 14th year, the Beach Ride is expecting over 1,200 riders and 2,000 participants from across the nation. Riders and their horses will spend five days and four nights camping at Lakewood, where riders will explore more than 20 miles of the pristine Atlantic Coast shore. The Beach Ride is the largest beach-trail ride on the sandy shores of South Carolina and is just one of the many events held annually at Lakewood Camping Resort.

“The American Heart Association Beach Ride is one of our favorite events that we host each and every year right here at Lakewood,” said Robert Clinger, general manager of Lakewood Camping Resort. “As a proud partner with such an impactful organization, there’s nothing better than waking up to the sound of hundreds of hooves trotting across our campground knowing it’s for a great cause. 2018 was a record breaking year raising $363,000 in life saving funds for the American Heart Association and we hope to help beat that in 2019.”

The event will feature a number of activities for participants, including educational seminars, silent auctions, costume contest and parade for horses and their riders, a karaoke competition, and a special church service on Sunday morning. In addition, a handful of vendors will be on site, including Myrtle Beach Equine Clinic, Circle Y Saddles, Merhow Trailers, Jackson Western Wear, and Triple Crown Feeds.

Since the event’s debut in 1981, more than $5.1 million has been raised to support the American Heart Association’s cardiovascular research and education projects.

The Beach Ride is for riders and participants only, as well as Lakewood guests, and closed to the public. For more information about the 38th Annual American Heart Association Beach Ride, visit Heart.org.
