Who: The Irmo Okra Strut festival hosted by the Town of Irmo, SC and managed by the Town Council and the Okra Strut Commission.
What: The 45th annual Irmo Okra Strut Festival presented by Lexington Medical Center is a FREE, two-day event boasting a street dance, a new dining experience, one of the largest parades in South Carolina, arts and crafts, rides, amusements, live bands and entertainment, a huge variety of food, and more than 100 local vendors. There is no admission price to enter the festival however individual fees do apply for rides, amusements and concessions. Friday will feature a Ride all Night for the cost of a $15 wristband. Free parking will be provided with shuttle rides to and from the festival.
When: Friday, September 28th, gates open at 5:00 p.m. and Saturday, September 29th, parade starts at 9 a.m. and gates open at 10 a.m.
Where: Irmo Community Park, 7507 Eastview Drive, Irmo, S.C.
Why: This event is put on for the community by the community. All funds raised by the festival are put back into the area through charitable contributions to local civic and school organizations, for scholarships and improvements of public areas.
Live Music: Friday night will kick off some unforgettable music performances. We welcome back local favorite, The Root Doctors with opening act Black Water Rhythm and Blues Band starting around 6pm. Then, Saturday, we are excited to welcome our headliner, The Weight Band for the Okra Strut’s inaugural Americana Rock night featuring members of The Band and the Levon Helm band and bringing you the sounds of Woodstock right here in Irmo. But first, enjoy our opening act by South Carolina native and chart topper, Rob Crosby performing locally for the first time in years! Join us for a cold drink, chill out under the stars, enjoy some rockin’ tunes and a good time!
