GREENVILLE, South Carolina (December 4, 2018) – Bringing experience that stretches from Cameroon to the Arctic Circle, the 21 new Liberty Fellows are accomplished leaders who have committed to work collectively to push South Carolina toward its full potential. Each new Fellow has logged significant hours engaging on important issues like food and housing access, health care, infrastructure, and the criminal justice system.Their commitment strengthens the collective impact of the network and brings the total number of Fellows to over 300 across the state.
“Representing some of South Carolina’s most important industries and endeavors, these Fellows have a track record of moving the needle,” commented Ann Marie Stieritz, Interim Chief Executive Officer of Liberty Fellowship. “The Liberty Fellowship experience will expand on the creative ideas of a varied group like this to bring a collaborative approach to solving South Carolina’s most pressing challenges.”
For the lifelong program, Liberty Fellowship selects diverse, proven leaders and immerses them in five seminars over 18 months. Through Socratic, round-table discussions, Fellows reflect on what makes a just society, thereby broadening perspectives, crossing traditional barriers to progress, and enhancing their ability to tackle issues. The Globalization Seminar has Liberty Fellows engaging in dialogues on global challenges with Fellows from China, India, Central America, and other international locations. Other key components for each Fellow are being paired with a mentor and undertaking a leadership project aimed at enriching South Carolina.
