LRADAC’s Prevention Team Recognized at the South Carolina Association of Prevention Professionals and Advocates Statewide Awards Ceremony

The South Carolina Association of Prevention Professionals and Advocates (SCAPPA) held its 2022 statewide meeting and awards ceremony today to recognize high-standard substance misuse prevention efforts along with prevention professionals who excel in their field. LRADAC’s prevention team received several recognitions that included the following:

•Kimberly Henry-Myers, LRADAC Prevention Specialist, received the Jan Oglietti Rising Star Prevention Professional Award that recognizes outstanding prevention professionals with educational scholarship funding;

•Laura Ryan, LRADAC’s Alcohol Enforcement Team Coordinator, received the Norman Peter Johnson Outstanding Prevention Professional Award that recognizes the importance of preventing alcohol, tobacco, and other drug abuse in the home, school, church, and community. The award also recognizes AET’s efforts in preventing addiction, allowing for an overall reduction in chronic diseases, crime, dropouts, child abuse, and other public health concerns; and

•The West Columbia Police Department Community Action Team (of which LRADAC is a partner) received the William Jerry McCord Prevention Advocacy Award recognizing advocacy leadership in promoting the prevention of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug abuse in the home, school, church, and community.
“With substance misuse numbers so challenging in our communities, prevention education and other outreach initiatives are more important than ever,” said Ashley Bodiford, LRADAC’s Director of Prevention. “Everyone on our prevention team is especially honored to be recognized by our prevention peers and to be part of proactive solutions for our communities.”
