Richland Library Friends and Foundation to Honor Local, Literary Giant
Columbia, SC- Do you know someone who has made a difference in the literary world? The Richland Library Friends and Foundation wants to hear from you. The organization is accepting nominations for the 2018 Lucy Hampton Bostick Award.
It recognizes a South Carolina author, someone who has written a significant literary work on South Carolina, or someone in the Midlands who has significantly advanced the interest in books or libraries.
Nominations must be postmarked by midnight on Thursday, May 31. Printable forms are available here, or you can secure a copy by calling the Richland Library Development Office at 803-929-3424.
The award, which includes a medal and a cash honorarium, will be presented in fall 2018.
It honors Lucy Hampton Bostick, long-time head librarian in Richland County and former Richland Library director from 1928-1968. Bostick is credited with fostering interest in Southern literature and history, improving cultural life in Columbia, and promoting library appreciation throughout the state.
