Tour is part of the Columbia Design League’s Meet the Designer Series, which takes members and guests inside art and design in Columbia.
(Columbia, SC) — The Columbia Design League invites you to a pre-opening preview of Columbia’s next dining hotspot, Hendrix, on Tuesday, October 9. Our Meet the Designer event will be held at the restaurant, beginning with a social hour at 6:00 p.m. followed by a talk and tour throughout the building. Hendrix is slated to open later this fall.
Meet the Designer guests will enjoy three menu samplings prepared by the Hendrix culinary team along with beer and wine. The project’s architect, construction manager, interior designer, owners and chef will share inside-the-design perspective about the redevelopment of the historic structure as well as the restaurant’s concept, which balances historic preservation and cutting-edge culinary in every aspect from architecture to interiors to menu.
The building, which is located at 1649 Main St. on the corner of Main and Blanding streets, is being redeveloped by Garvin Design Group in partnership with Hood Construction. It is the former location of a grocery and meat market operated by E.T. Hendrix. It was also the previous location of Ruff Hardware and longtime Columbia eatery Hennessy’s Restaurant and Lounge.
The Meet the Designer event is $35 per person for current CDL members and $45 for nonmembers and guests. Tickets are limited to the first 40 participants and are now available online.
