COLUMBIA, SC – A family law attorney with more than a decade's experience, Amanda S. "Mandy" Mueller has become the newest partner at Burnette Shutt & McDaniel, PA.
A skilled litigator, Mueller's multi-faceted family law practice includes divorce, custody, separation, protection orders, and more. She frequently serves as a court-appointed guardian ad litem, representing the interests of children in contested custody and visitation cases.
Before coming to Burnette Shutt & McDaniel three years ago, she was an attorney for a national family law firm. She helped launch the firm's Columbia office, where in addition to her work as a litigator she managed family law cases from start to finish. Her work included issues such as the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act, which determines which state has the authority to make decisions in cases. She also dealt with the many nuances of family law cases involving military personnel.
She's also a former attorney for the South Carolina Department of Social Services who represented the state in more than 1,000 Family Court hearings. She represented Richland and Kershaw Counties in vulnerable adult and child abuse and neglect proceedings.
Mueller has advanced training in family law through the National Family Law Trial Institute. She's a member of the South Carolina Bar Children's Law and Law Related Education sections and has taught child-protection law for the Bar's Law School for Non-Lawyers Program.
A graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law, she worked for more than three years as a paralegal before earning her Juris Doctor.
