Mungo Foundation to Donate Vests in Memory of Co-worker/Volunteer Deputy

The Mungo Homes Foundation is pleased to announce that it presented a check to Sherriff Jay Koon on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 to purchase outer protective vests for the Lexington County Sherriff’s Department Volunteer Deputy Team.

Donated in memory of Blaine Newman, a Builder with Mungo Homes and member of the volunteer team who was lost to Covid last summer, the check will cover the expense for the entire 15-member volunteer team.

According to Foundation Board Member Allison Page, “We miss Blaine’s quick smile and quiet dedication and believe that supporting his fellow officers in the line of duty would be something that he would have appreciated since he would never have wanted to draw attention to himself.”

In attendance with Sherriff Koon was Mr. Rex Newman, Blaine’s father, and Ms. Wendy Culley, Blaine’s sister. The presentation took place at the Lexington County Sherriff’s Department at 521 Gibson Road, Suite A in Lexington.
