SOUTH CAROLINA (August 16, 2018) – NP Strategy, a strategic communications firm with offices in North and South Carolina, welcomed Maggie Speaks to the company’s rapidly growing communications team. A former collegiate and professional volleyball player, Speaks will shift her competitive edge from the athletic court to a Main Street office where she will assist the growing NP Strategy (NPS+) client base.
“We are excited to continue to build a team of sharp communications professionals around the Carolinas,” said NP Strategy Managing Director Leighton Lord. “Not only does Maggie bring a fresh perspective and new energy to our diverse team, but she fulfills the firm’s need to grow in accordance with the increase of clients. Maggie is the fourth hire for NPS+ this year alone.”
Prior to joining the NP Strategy team, Speaks attended North Carolina State University in Raleigh, North Carolina where she was a member of the Wolfpack’s Women’s Volleyball Team and served as the team captain for two years. During her time in Raleigh, Speaks also had the opportunity to serve as a Communications Coordinator for the USA Baseball organization.
“Maggie’s versatility both on and off the court makes her a tremendous asset to NPS+,” said NP Strategy Director Heather Matthews. “She brings a positive, competitive and team-oriented approach to our workplace which will certainly benefit our clients.”
After receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication with a concentration in Public Relations, Speaks pursued a career in professional volleyball, playing for Makedones-Axiou, a professional volleyball team in Thessaloniki, Greece. “I am very excited to be back in the Carolinas and to expand my knowledge and experience in strategic communications and public relations,” said Speaks. “Playing volleyball has been my sole focus for the past 12 years and will always hold a special place in my heart, but I am looking forward to being on a different kind of team and facing a new kind of challenge.”
