Palmetto Health Foundation Golf Classic, presented by Aflac, will be held April 19-20 in Columbia. For 28 years, proceeds have benefited Palmetto Health Cancer Centers, one of the largest cancer programs in the Southeast. The reception will be held Thursday, April 19, 5:30-8 p.m., at 701 Whaley. Reception guests will have the opportunity to win items such as a custom-made oyster cooker, a Weber Spirit 210 gas grill, an acoustic guitar signed by Lynyrd Skynyrd and four tickets to a Lynyrd Skynyrd concert in Charlotte, a Roomba® robot vacuum and more! The first 25 guests to donate $150 for a raffle ticket book will be given a Polar Bear Cooler, known for its cold-chill retention and functionality. Raffle winners must be present to win. A special fund-a-need auction will help Palmetto Health Cancer Centers fund new technology that measures a cancer patient’s oxygen utilization during aerobic exercise. The results lead to specialized aerobic exercise training that greatly relieves symptoms of fatigue and other symptoms in patients with cancer. The reception will be catered by Jack Brantley of Aberdeen Catery and emceed by Kevin “The Bull” Bullard, an award-winning long drive champion.
The 4-man captain’s choice tournament will be held Friday, April 20 on both courses at Ft. Jackson Golf Club. Thanks to Love Chevrolet, golfers will have a chance to win a 2018 Chevrolet Colorado or a 2018 Chevrolet Camaro, with a hole-in-one on designated holes. Mulligans and “kick and throws” may be added at registration the morning of the tournament. Kevin “The Bull” Bullard will entertain participants with trick shots and long drive demos before tee time. “The Bull” will be joined by Justin “The Moose” Moose, also a long drive champion. On both courses, players will have the opportunity to make a donation for The Bull or The Moose to drive for them. The top three long drive donors will be entered into a drawing for a $200 gift certificate to the Pro Shop at Ft. Jackson Golf Club.
A few golf team spots are still available. To reserve a team, call Palmetto Health Foundation at 803-434-7275. Reservations for the reception are $60 per person, $100 per couple and $1,000 for a table of eight. RSVP at PHFGolfClassic.org. Reservations may be made at the door on April 19 at 701 Whaley.
