Palmetto Place announces new Director of Development
(COLUMBIA, SC) – Palmetto Place Children’s Shelter is pleased to announce the hiring of Kendra Mallett-Brunson as its new director of development.
As director of development, Mallett-Brunson will play an integral role in supporting and advancing the mission of Palmetto Place by engaging with donors, community stakeholders, volunteers and grantors. She will work in conjunction with the executive director to advance the awareness of the epidemic of homeless youth and youth in foster care within the Midlands. In addition to donor relations and volunteer partnerships, Mallett-Brunson will lead the organization’s fundraising efforts.
“We are overjoyed to have Kendra at Palmetto Place to head donor relations and fundraising,” said Jill Lawson, executive director of Palmetto Place Children’s Shelter. “She truly is an asset and will progress our efforts in serving our mission. She is the all-star that has what it takes to increase our relationships within the community.”
Before working for Palmetto Place Children’s Shelter, Mallett-Brunson worked for Winthrop University as Senior Development Officer. Prior to Winthrop she was the Strategic Partnerships Manager for SC Thrive for five years. Mallett-Brunson earned her B.A. in Communications from Columbia College in 2013.
Palmetto Place Children’s Shelter provides a safe and nurturing environment for abused and neglected children and unaccompanied youth, offering them a broad range of services concentrating on personal healing and development. The shelter is open 24 hours each day of the year with medical and mental health care, crisis adjustment/transitional counseling, after school tutoring and recreational and social activities in addition to food, clothing and shelter.
