COLUMBIA, SC – August 1, 2019 – Covelli Enterprises, the largest franchisee of Panera Bread, will present a check for $4,688.69 to Harvest Hope Food Bank on Tuesday, August 6 at 11:30 a.m. This donation is a result of the company’s fundraising efforts during May and June at seven Panera Bread locations in the Midlands. The formal check presentation will be at Panera Bread at 6080 Garners Ferry Road in Columbia, SC. Panera food and beverages will be provided for all attendees.
Harvest Hope Food Bank was the benefitting partner during the months of May and June from Panera’s Change Round-Up Program through which customers are able to “round up” their order totals to the next dollar to support local organizations.
Harvest Hope Food Bank’s mission is to provide for the needs of hungry people by gathering and sharing quality food with dignity, compassion and education. In 2018, the organization distributed 22.9 million meals to provide hunger relief across 20 counties in South Carolina. More than 44,000 children are food insecure in the Midlands, and summer months are especially difficult for children who receive free or reduced breakfast and lunch during the school year. Panera’s donation is crucial for supporting those children during this season of increased need.
In attendance and available for interviews at Tuesday’s check presentation will be representatives from Panera Bread and Harvest Hope Food Bank.
