Paul Featheringill Joins the SC SBDC Network as UofSC Region Director

COLUMBIA, SC–The South Carolina Small Business Development Centers (SC SBDC), the state’s premier provider of business assistance to small business owners and entrepreneurs, is pleased to announce that Paul Featheringill has joined the SC SBDC as Director of the UofSC Region--which covers 13 counties and comprises eight area centers and one satellite location. Featheringill will be located in the SC SBDC’s North Charleston office.

Like all SC SBDC network professionals, Featheringill will draw upon his breadth and depth of experience to strengthen the SC SBDC network and enrich the quality of its services.

Featheringill began his career in economic development working as a senior program manager for the Savannah Development and Renewal Authority where he coordinated planning efforts for streetscape improvements and a comprehensive Downtown Master Plan.

Featheringill then applied his expertise as a business loan officer for the City of Columbia. In that capacity, Featheringill managed a $1.2 million loan portfolio and provided technical assistance on business plans, financing issues, site selection and permitting. Most recently, Featheringill worked as a loan officer for the Charleston Local Development Corporation where he was responsible for approving over $3 million in loans last year alone.

Featheringill says that he is excited to be joining the SC SBDC team. "In my previous experience as a commercial lender I have been fortunate enough to work with the great people at the SC SBDC many times. The UofSC Region covers some of the most dynamic areas of the state and I look forward to continuing and helping to build upon the great work this group has been doing for many years," he said.

SC SBDC State Director Michele Abraham is confident in Featheringill's ability to lead and inspire his team. “Paul is a great addition to our team. He has extensive small business and lending experience, along with a passion to serve our clients. We are excited to have him on board.”

Featheringill says that as the new UofSC Region Director he has the following priorities:
1. Continuing to build upon the success of the region by working with local chambers of commerce, economic development agencies, business associations and lenders to expand the client base and foster business growth and success.

2. Working with the team to continue providing clients with the high-quality tools and resources they need to succeed and grow, especially as they work to recover from the impact of the pandemic.

3. Increasing awareness of the programs and services offered by the SC SBDC to increase the organization’s impact in the region.

Featheringill says that what he enjoys most about working with clients is helping them to achieve their dream of building successful businesses that positively impact their lives and their communities.
