Columbia, S.C.— Prisma Health Baptist Hospital has opened the healthcare system’s third retail pharmacy site in the Midlands. The new pharmacy is located in the main hospital at Taylor at Marion St., on the first floor, in Columbia SC 29220. The hours of operation are 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m., Monday–Friday (closed for lunch 1:30–2 p.m.), and 1–5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. It is open to the public and there are three 30-minute parking spaces on Taylor St. for quick access.

The onsite retail pharmacy will offer discharge medications for inpatients, surgery patients and emergency room patients, which helps them begin new medications in a timely way, reduces re-admissions, improves patient satisfaction and reduces costs. Jennifer Bair, vice president for pharmacy services, said, “This new pharmacy will also provide a convenient pick-up location for our team members on the campus and patients of our nearby physician practices who use our pharmacies. This definitely is a long-awaited addition to our retail pharmacy network.” It is the 12th retail pharmacy in the Prisma Health facility network across the state.

Anthony Jackson, the hospital’s chief executive officer, said, “We’re excited to add this service to our downtown Columbia campus. The pharmacy will have on-hand the top medicines ordered by physicians and will be a valued convenience to our patients and team members going forward.” Jackson noted that his predecessor, Mike Bundy, along with the Prisma Health pharmacy team, launched the process to establish the new site.

Bundy, who now leads Prisma Health Richland Hospital, added, “We know patients are more compliant with their discharge plan of care when they can leave the hospital or emergency department with their medications. The opening of the pharmacy on the Baptist campus is all about our commitment to enhancing the health status of our community outside the walls of our clinics, hospitals or other care locations.”

The Baptist Hospital retail pharmacy also will offer adult immunizations. Prisma Health pharmacies can bill most insurances and for those without insurance coverage, competitive cash pricing is offered for vaccinations and no prescription is needed. For details, call 803-296-6200.
