Providence Health Director of Pastoral Care Honored with National Award

COLUMBIA, SC (JULY 16, 2020)- Dr. Ruth Jandeska, EdD, BCC, director of Pastoral Care for Providence Health, has been name the recipient of the 2020 Emergent Leader Award by The National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC).

Each year, the NACC recognizes an individual committed to promoting and improving the ministry of chaplaincy and the mission of the NACC.

“Ruth is an emerging spiritual care leader and companion who embraces the challenges of this time in healthcare with optimism, humor, honesty, creativity, and an abiding belief that all things are possible when our hearts lead us to do what is right in serving the needs of all people especially the poor and vulnerable among us,” says Linda A. Bronersky BCC-E, NACC.

As a passionate advocate for chaplaincy, Ruth’s leadership approach is that of empowering others so they can achieve their fullest potential. Currently, she serves as a Director of Pastoral Care at Providence Health in Columbia, SC and has served in NACC as interviewer, ITE and Competencies Commission member.

Ruth received a Master of Arts degree from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago and a Doctor of Education in Interdisciplinary Leadership from Creighton University in Omaha. Ruth completed her CPE training at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. She has been an NACC member since 2010 and certified in 2011.
