Family footwear retailer commemorates new store with ribbon-cutting ceremony, $4,000 donation to Blue Ridge Elementary School
SENECA, South Carolina, July 16, 2018 – Rack Room Shoes will open in the Hartwell Village shopping center at 13360 Clemson Blvd. on Thursday morning. The new store will open its doors beginning with a ribbon cutting ceremony, as well as a check presentation to a local elementary school, at 10 a.m.
According to Rack Room Shoes Regional Manager Angie Mollohan, in celebration of its new Seneca location, the retailer will contribute to the community by presenting a $4,000 donation to Blue Ridge Elementary School.
“Our team feels that making this donation to Blue Ridge Elementary is a great way to start the Back To School season locally,” said Mollohan. “And we certainly are eager to share our shopper-friendly environment and unparalleled product offering for the whole family to the Seneca community!”
Rack Room Shoes is hosting two initiatives during the Back To School season – which runs now through September 11: The annual Shoes That Fit Campaign and the Real Teacher of the Year Contest.
Shoes That Fit Campaign
During every Back To School season, Rack Room Shoes hosts a fundraiser for its annual Shoes that Fit campaign. Through a partnership with national non-profit, Shoes That Fit, Rack Room Shoes has provided more than 250,000 pairs of shoes to children in need.
All funds collected in stores and online remain local, benefitting children the communities where Rack Room Shoes stores are located. The company provides a corporate match for all donations up to $300,000.
Real Teacher of the Year Contest
Rack Room Shoes is also hosting an online contest to find the nation’s Real Teacher of the Year. Parents are encouraged to submit a video or photo and short paragraph on why they think a teacher is deserving of the award – and encouraged a child/student to embrace Rack Room Shoe’s Back To School campaign message: Be You.
In addition to Hartwell Village location, Rack Room Shoes also serves the Upstate community in: Town and Country Shopping Center in Easley; Haywood Mall in Greenville, Fairview Corners in Simpsonville; and Westgate Crossing Shopping Center and Hillcrest Market Place in Spartanburg.
