Regional Medical Center President and CEO Joins SCHA Board

Columbia, SC – Charles Williams, FACHE, President and CEO of the Regional Medical Center, was recently appointed to a three-year term on the South Carolina Hospital Association (SCHA) Board of Trustees.

Williams, who joined RMC as president and CEO in December 2017, began his first term on the 27-member board in January. He has more than 20 years of healthcare experience in operations, leadership and business development, and most recently served as vice president of performance standards and clinical operations for Tenet Healthcare Corporation in Dallas, Texas. Previously, he served as vice president of operations for JPS Health Network in Fort Worth, Texas, and chief operating officer at Doctors Hospital at White Rock Lake in Dallas.

Through his experiences with these organizations, Williams has become an innovative and futuristic catalyst for change, driving continuous improvements across healthcare operations. He became known for his ability to cultivate a culture of patient healing through caring, collaborative and effective operations. He is a proponent of advances in medicine and providing quality care to all patients.

We know that he will be a valuable asset in representing the healthcare needs of the people of Orangeburg County and surrounding areas that rely on the Regional Medical Center for high-quality care,” said SCHA President and CEO Thornton Kirby.

Williams has a bachelor’s degree in community health/health studies and a master’s degree in occupational therapy from Texas Woman’s University, and master’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Arlington. He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).

The SCHA board of trustees is responsible for overseeing the objectives of the Association and determining policy that supports hospitals and health systems in South Carolina. SCHA Board members serve three-year terms and may be re-elected for an additional three-year term.
