Columbia, SC- The Richland Library Friends and Foundation is excited to announce Cearra Harris as the recipient of the 2021 Ethel Bolden Minority Fellowship. She's a doctoral student in Library and Information Science at the University of South Carolina.

Harris started her library career as a sorting shelver at Richland Library Southeast over 10 years ago. Returning to Richland County for the duration of her fellowship ending in May 2022, Harris will work with Richland Library staff as a contributor to the Let’s Talk Race curriculum as well as connect with the community for the Edgewood Oral History initiative. She's also sharing updates with the Richland Library Friends and Foundation's board.

In addition, Harris is receiving $3,500 in financial assistance. The fellowship encourages and provides support to students from underserved and underrepresented ethnic and racial groups who are working toward an undergraduate or graduate degree.

Originally established in 2010 as a scholarship, the fellowship recognizes Mrs. Ethel Bolden's years of service to the Richland County community and its libraries.
