SAFE Federal Credit Union Establishes Colonel David Wagner, SAFE Federal Credit Union Endowed Scholarship Fund

SUMTER, South Carolina, January 4, 2022– SAFE Federal Credit Union honored long-time board member, David Wagner with the establishment of the Colonel David Wagner, SAFE Federal Credit Union Endowed Scholarship Fund.

Wagner was first elected to SAFE’s Board of Directors in 1988, where he has served for more than 34 years.

A 33-year veteran of the United States Air Force, Wagner served as Base Commander for Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina, MacDill Air Force Base in Florida, and Spangdahlem Air Base in Germany.

The permanently endowed scholarship fund with the University of South Carolina will aid military families stationed at Shaw Air Force Base.

“Establishing this scholarship is a way for us to honor Dave and his unflagging commitment to service, said President and CEO, Michael Baker. “It’s our hope that recipients will add to Dave’s legacy for years, and years to come.”
