Salvation Army of the Midlands Receives Donation from Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation
COLUMBIA, SC – The Salvation Army of the Midlands has received $2,000 from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation just in time to help feed local residents.
"We are incredibly thankful for the generous contribution from the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation. With this gift, we will be able to purchase food products and provide 6,250 meals. Together we are truly able to 'Do The Most Good' here in the Midlands," said Major Henry Morris.
The Salvation Army serves the homeless population in Columbia with the Feeding Program at the Transitions Homeless Recovery Center. The Salvation Army provide nutritious breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals every single day.
The Salvation Army served over 254,617 meals last year (October 2016-September 2017). The support received from Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation directly impacts the program and enables The Salvation Army to continue to serve individuals who are seeking shelter to start rebuilding their lives.
Established in 2001, the Food Lion Feeds Charitable Foundation provides financial support for programs and organizations dedicated to feeding the hungry in the communities it serves. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded more than $12 million in grants.
