Savannah River Remediation’s Generous Donation Supports Children’s Place

AIKEN, S.C. (January 13, 2022) — Savannah River Remediation (SRR), the Savannah River Site (SRS) liquid waste contractor, has donated $30,000 to Children’s Place, Inc., a local non-profit organization.

The donation will mean a room will be named in honor of SRR, which is finishing its successful 12-year run as the liquid waste contractor.

Children’s Place, Inc. serves local children and their families with the mission to protect, heal, and strengthen children and families from the impact of trauma in their lives through education, treatment, and prevention services.

The donation made to Children’s Place will support its building project, allowing the nonprofit to use its operational money to continue its programs, which include Therapeutic Child Care, Family and Individual Counseling, Community-Based Prevention Services, Strengthening Families Program, and Beds for Babies.

Supporting organizations such as Children’s Place is one of the main ways SRR shares its core values with the surrounding community, according to SRR President and Project Manager Phil Breidenbach.

“One of our values is teamwork and, in this case, we demonstrate that by supporting our community,” Breidenbach said. “Children’s Place has done phenomenal work helping families for many years in our community. They deserve our support, and we are glad to be able to help in this way.”

SRR is a team of companies led by Amentum with partners Bechtel National, Jacobs, and BWX Technologies, Inc. Critical subcontractors for the contract are Orano, Atkins, and Amentum N&E Technical Services.
