The South Carolina Green Industry Association is proud to announce the award of $12,000 in scholarships to collegiate horticulture programs in South Carolina.
SC Green is a statewide, non-profit organization with the goal to serve its membership by increasing the professionalism of the green industry through ongoing educational opportunities, trade shows, and scholarships to students planning a career in the horticulture and landscape industries.
This year, SC Green awarded Clemson University, Piedmont Technical College, Spartanburg Community College, and Trident Technical College scholarships of $3,000 each towards their horticulture programs.
“We are extremely grateful for the financial support provided to our students by SC Green,” said Daniel Greenwell, Department Head of Horticulture and Agriculture at Piedmont Technical College. “I cannot overstate how much of a benefit this is to our students by helping offset college expenses as well as opening doors to attend conferences and tradeshows where they can plug into the industry and jumpstart their careers.”
“Trident Technical College’s Horticulture program’s enrollment is highly untraditional with over 80% of students taking classes while currently employed and often raising a family. The funding received from SC Green has been critically impactful for some very deserving students and eases their financial burden to make their career goals achievable,” said Tony Bertauski, TTC’s Horticulture Program Director.
