Second Biblestore Outlet for South Carolina: new store opens in Lexington. Biblestore Outlet is expanding its discount Christian literature operation by opening a second store in South Carolina.
The new branch in Lexington will open to the public on Thursday September 10th,
following the success of the Florence branch, which opened last June.
The enterprise is a ministry of OM Ships International, a Christian nonprofit
organization based in Florence since 2006. Its literature center supplies an ocean-
going ship with Bibles and Christian books for distribution around the world. The
vessel is crewed by missionaries from more than 60 different nations, with many
international volunteers serving in South Carolina to support the ship.
Managing Director for Literature, John Satterly, says,
“Our Florence Biblestore has exceeded our expectations and has met a real
need in the community for quality books at reduced prices. We’re delighted to
be expanding within the state.”
While business has been tough for many sectors during the COVID-19 pandemic,
Biblestore Outlet has seen increased sales of books that minister to people’s
spiritual needs: “When coronavirus hit, the demand for Bibles jumped,” says John. “They shot up to almost 50% of our sales — both via the internet and in store. It’s clear
that people want God’s Word as they search for something meaningful to put
their trust and hope in.”
The store will bring welcome employment to the Lexington-Columbia area in the
current challenging climate; with vacancies for a full-time manager as well as part-
time evening and Saturday staff.
