COLUMBIA, SC - Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands (STSM) announces the grand opening of a permanent office in Clarendon County on Wednesday, October 3. STSM's Clarendon County office is located at 16B North Brooks in Manning, South Carolina.
"STSM has provided services to survivors of sexual assault and their loved ones from Clarendon County since 2012, but from a satellite office in Sumter County," Mary Dell Hayes, STSM Executive Director, said. "We are now able to open a full-time office for the numerous survivors in Clarendon who seek healing care each year."
STSM's new office will house a full-time licensed counselor who provides trauma-informed clinical care to survivors and their loved ones impacted by sexual violence, as well as a full-time care coordinator who helps survivors build coping skills to address their immediate needs and provides personal advocacy for survivors within the criminal justice system. The Clarendon office will also serve as a hub for volunteerism in the community. All services for survivors are offered at no cost to the victim or their family.
"Clarendon County is our newest service area, and it is important to STSM to make its services accessible to all survivors," Sherry Lewis, STSM Director of Therapy, said. "We didn't want people who lived in White Oak or Manning to be deterred from seeking care because they had to drive all the way to downtown Sumter."
STSM is celebrating its Clarendon Office Grand Opening on Wednesday, October 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its new office location (16B North Brooks Street, Manning, South Carolina 29102). Community members are invited to come celebrate, learn about the services STSM provides, and discover ways to support STSM's mission to advocate for and support survivors of sexual assault and abuse and educate the community to identify and prevent sexual violence.
