COLUMBIA, SC – Nekki Shutt, a founding partner of Burnette Shutt & McDaniel, is among the 2021 Women of Influence honorees.

The awards, sponsored by the Columbia Regional Business Report, recognize women who demonstrate professional success and have made significant contributions to the community. Around two dozen professionals are recognized annually. Kathleen McDaniel, another Burnette Shutt & McDaniel founder, was honored in 2019.

Shutt and McDaniel, along with Malissa Burnette, formed the law firm in 2017. Burnette Shutt & McDaniel fights for clients in a wide range of areas, including employment law, civil rights law, discrimination cases and high-profile litigation.

In addition to those areas, Shutt’s practice also includes employee benefits under federal ERISA statutes and similar South Carolina laws. She also represents whistleblowers in qui tam cases aimed at exposing government fraud. Shutt has been a South Carolina Supreme Court certified specialist in employment law for a decade.

Women of Influence candidates are nominated by community members, with a panel of judges making the final selection. This year’s class of 22 outstanding leaders will be honored at a Nov. 30 luncheon. Tickets are still available online: https://www.squadup.com/events/21crbrwoi
