COLUMBIA, SC – Nekki Shutt, a founding member of Burnette Shutt & McDaniel, has been named “Best Lawyers in America’s” 2023 Lawyer of the Year in the practice area of Employee Benefits (ERISA) for the Columbia area.

Shutt, who has been honored in “Best Lawyers” every year since 2010, also earned eight additional honors in the latest edition of the annual guide to the nation’s top lawyers.

Most of the practice areas Shutt is recognized in are related to employee benefits and employment law. She also is honored again this year for her work in commercial litigation, personal injury litigation and qui tam whistleblower law. “This truly speaks to the well-rounded nature of her practice,” firm co-founder Kathleen McDaniel added. “She does so many things so very well. It’s great to see that versatility honored.”
