South Carolina Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company Names Director of Actuarial and Regulatory Services
Cayce, S.C. - South Carolina Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company has named Darien S. Porter Director, Actuarial and Regulatory Services. Porter comes to Farm Bureau Insurance from the South Carolina Department of Insurance where he worked as the Property and Casualty Manager overseeing insurance product filings, among other roles including acting Deputy Director within Market Services, and rates analyst.
In his new role at Farm Bureau Insurance, Porter will oversee the company’s pricing and reserving functions, manage filings, and advise the senior executive management team on property lines of business.
“Darien not only has very impressive actuarial credentials, but his regulatory experience is invaluable. He has spent much of his career focused on protecting the insurance consumer, which we respect very much. As a South Carolina based mutual company, we exist for the sole benefit of our member-policyholders rather than stockholders. Protecting the value of the company for those member-policyholders is at the heart of every decision made,” said Bill Courtney, executive vice president and CEO.
Porter obtained a Mathematics degree with an emphasis in Actuarial Sciences from the University of South Carolina. He is an Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society and member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
