COLUMBIA, S.C. (June 13, 2019) – South Carolina Power Team is pleased to announce that Warren A. Darby Jr., Senior Vice President for Global Business, has completed the Advanced Economic Development Leadership (AEDL) Program.
Warren was awarded the Economic Development Master Practitioner diploma during a recent ceremony at the Kauffman Conference Center in Kansas City, MO, at the conclusion of the two-week program developed by a partnership comprising Clemson University, the University of Southern Mississippi, the University of Alabama and Texas Christian University.
The AEDL program is an experiential, executive education course that explores economic development subjects that impact communities and states. Instructors include site consultants, business leaders, nationally known subject experts and university professors. Topics covered included negotiation, communication, workforce/education, project management, community development, influencing change, international trade/foreign direct investment and other key subjects that impact quality job creation.
“The world-class faculty leading the AEDL program gave me deeper insight and a broader perspective about the opportunities and possibilities that South Carolina has in our fast-growing and changing global economy. I certainly look forward to helping the SC Power Team assist communities and companies across the state capitalize on those opportunities,” Warren said.
“We’re proud of Warren for reaching yet another milestone in his professional development as a catalyst and guide for our state’s consumer-owned electric cooperatives as they work to advance economic growth and job creation in their communities and service areas,” said James Chavez, President and CEO, SC Power Team.
Warren joined the SC Power Team from the South Carolina Department of Commerce, where he served as Project Manager, Global Business Development from 2010 to 2014.
Warren is a member of the South Carolina Economic Developers’ Association (SCEDA) and 2000 graduate of Clemson University. He and his wife, Shannon, live in Columbia with their son, Walker, and daughter, Taylor.
