SRNS Named Carolinas-Virginia Minority Supplier Development Council’s 2018 Corporation of the Year

AIKEN, S.C., (Aug. 27, 2018) – Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) has been recognized as the 2018 “Corporation of the Year” by the Carolinas-Virginia Minority Supplier Development Council (CVMSDC) for its partnering and active support of regional small and minority business initiatives. SRNS committed over $308 million with minority businesses in South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia since 2014 and led best practice supplier development initiatives. This was SRNS’ third major small business award this year.

“This is a tremendous honor for our company and one that demonstrates our commitment to our regional suppliers. We’re very proud of our team for this accomplishment," Jay Johnson, SRNS Director, Procurement. “We execute a ‘small business first’ approach for our procurements which creates opportunities for our small businesses. This has yielded a tremendous economic impact to the region’s job market and household income.

US&S, a maintenance services supplier at SRS, was nominated by SRNS for this prestigious competition and won this year’s Small Business of the Year award for its annual revenue category.

Within business and industry, supplier development refers to the process of connecting small and minority businesses that provide goods and services to corporations for the purpose of enhancing and supporting manufacturing, development and product delivery into the marketplace.

Through the work of CVMSDC, minority business enterprises and corporate members are brought together for the mutual benefit of advancing and innovating supplier development ideals in the marketplace, elevating minority business participation levels and transforming the economic landscape from the status quo to foster economic development.
