June 15, 2018 – Columbia, S.C. – It was announced this week that Ms. Aubrey Herkert, soon to be Mrs. Aubrey Wall, has been appointed the new Principal of St. Peter’s Catholic School located in the heart of downtown Columbia, S.C.
St. Peter’s Catholic School has been a ministry of St. Peter’s Catholic Church since 1852. The school offers K4 through 6th-grade students an academically challenging education in a safe, nurturing, and globally diverse environment. Herkert/Wall will be taking over Principal duties from Mrs. Kathy Preston, who announced her retirement from the school earlier this year.
“St. Peter’s is a smaller school with a rich history and a great deal of spirit,” said Ms. Aubrey Herkert/Wall, Principal, St. Peter’s Catholic School. “I am beyond excited to bring my skills and expertise to the school as we continue to hold on to the values that make St. Peter’s special, while also working to push the high educational standards the school is known for.”
Herkert/Wall received a B.S. in Elementary and Kindergarten Education from the Pennsylvania State University and M. Ed in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in curriculum and instruction with a focus on educational technology at the University of South Carolina. Most recently, Herkert/Wall taught first grade at Satchel Ford Elementary School, where, among other responsibilities, she was a leader in technology implementation.
“Ms. Herkert brings an intense love of education, a proven track record of success in the classroom, and a youthful energy that bodes well as we enter our 166th year of educating boys and girls in Columbia,” said The Very Rev’d Cannon Gary S. Linsky, V.F. Pastor. “We are thrilled to have her on board and look forward to the benefits of her organizational skills, enthusiasm, and expertise.”
