Local Subway® Restaurant’s Day of Giving to Provide Resources for the Homeless
Columbia Subway® restaurants providing subs and other resources to those in need at Transitions Homeless Center
WHAT: Local Subway® restaurants in the Columbia area are providing various resources to homeless and low-income individuals during their Subway Day of Giving on September 18 starting at 3:30 PM until 6:15 PM at Transitions Homeless Center. The event, in partnership with Transitions Homeless Center, aims to assist people in need with a free meal, haircut and provide resources for job opportunities and rehabilitation programs.
Since it opened in 2011, Transitions Homeless Center has served more than 1,600,000 meals and has placed approximately 2,500 men and women in permanent housing. Daily, it provides 600 meals and accommodate 350 people in the facility.
Local Subway® restaurants aim to provide the facility with food for one meal in order to help Transitions Homeless Center provide further support to other programs or to extend the availability of their food services.
WHO: Subway® and Transitions volunteers serving 200 sandwiches to those in need, volunteers providing haircuts, and other community services providing resources for employment and other opportunities.
