Talented Tenth SC, A Columbia-based Young Professionals’ Organization Dedicated to Raising the Standard of Excellence Among African Americans

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Talented Tenth, a Columbia-based young professionals’ organization founded by former City of Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin, presents the Annual Talented Tenth Conference, The 2023 SC Convening: Access. Service. Elevation. The conference, which kicks off on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 and runs through Saturday, February 11, 2023, will take place at various locations throughout downtown Columbia.

Designed to help guide and engage our region’s future leaders, the Talented Tenth Conference provides attendees with the tools needed to contribute to their profession and community successfully. By way of meaningful and purposeful networking opportunities, guests will come face-to-face with thought leaders, senior executives, elected officials, and community leaders who have joined forces to share in their knowledge regarding professional development, education, and economic development.

“We are looking forward to the opportunity to discuss and reconnect Columbia’s leading professionals with our young and up-and-coming leaders in an informal setting,” states Dr. LaChe Sumpter, Talented Tenth SC board chair.

Panelists and guests for the Talented Tenth Conference, The 2023 Convening, include DJ Chuck T (DJ), Bianca Shelton (Entrepreneur, Professor, and Blogger), Antjuan Seawright (Founder and CEO of Blueprint Strategy, LLC), Kiki Cyprus (Owner of Kiki’s Chicken and Waffles), Dr. Michele Josey (Mogul Beginnings Data Consulting) and Kara Simmons (Moderator and Founder and CEO of KPC & Co).

“It has been a great pleasure working with The Talented Tenth board members and planning collaborative events with the Columbia Urban League’s Young Professionals of SC for this year’s conference,” continued Sumpter. “It is important to pull together our community’s young professionals and provide them with the resources needed for success. We are the future and it is important to invest in our legacy.”
