The Big Red Barn Retreat Is Awarded a $10,000 Grant from the Bank of America Foundation

BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. – We celebrate a notable partnership between the Big Red Barn Retreat (BRBR) and Bank of America. We are proud to announce that on June 5, 2023, the Bank of America Foundation awarded a $10,000 grant to the Big Red Barn Retreat to support its Transcendental Meditation (TM) training program. The following week, Bank of America employees from across the Midlands volunteered to  help prepare and serve meals to our Warrior PATHH class participants during their 7-day, residential initiation at the Big Red Barn Retreat.

“This is what a true partnership looks like,” said Sutton Shaw, Co-Founder of the Big Red Barn Retreat. “Bank of America, through it’s Foundation,  not only provides vital funding for our transformative programs, but they also sponsor our events and their employees  volunteer during our Warrior PATHH program as well.”

The funding from the Bank of America Foundation Grant will provide the opportunity for Veterans, First Responders and their immediate family members to be trained in this effective and highly studied form of meditation. Transcendental Meditation (TM)  is also taught to participants during the Warrior PATHH program .  This regulation practice is an important element of  one’s  journey to Posttraumatic Growth and will contribute to positive mental wellness for participants.

Transcendental Meditation is one of the oldest and most studied forms of silent meditation and is a cornerstone of the Warrior PATHH program offered at the BRBR. Hundreds of independent research studies correlate TM practice with significantly higher levels of calmness, creativity, energy, clarity, and happiness. The BRBR has found that such meditation practices are extremely beneficial to those suffering with post-traumatic stress, anxiety, and depression, and affect many of our veterans and first responders.
