The University of South Carolina Press launches new intuitive website in anticipation of strong holiday sales

The University of South Carolina Press, the Palmetto State’s oldest and most distinguished book publisher, is inviting readers and learners to visit its new website, USCPress.com.

In addition to being responsive and intuitive, the new USCPress.com offers both print and ebooks for sale, a book filter and sorting tool, news and events, newsletter signup, and updated resources for authors and prospective authors.

2020 online holiday shopping is expected to exceed $184 billion, a 30% increase from last year, according to Adobe Analytics data. An encouraging trend for UofSC Press approaching the holidays is the strong demand for books. NPD BookScan shows book print unit sales up 7% through the week ending November 14 over 2019.

This fall the UofSC Press saw overwhelming demand for The Southern Wildlife Watcher: Notes of a Naturalist by Rob Simbeck, a veteran writer for South Carolina Wildlife Magazine; the book is in its third printing and expected to be a top seller for the holidays. UofSC Press also rushed to reprint Stories of Struggle: The Clash Over Civil Rights in South Carolina by journalist Claudia Smith Brinson in response to a surge of orders.

We the People: Portraits of Veterans in America by acclaimed Charleston artist Mary Whyte, A South Carolina Chronology by South Carolina’s preeminent historian Walter Edgar, and Carolina Bays: Wild, Majestic, and Mysterious Landforms by Order of the Palmetto recipient Tom Poland and celebrated photographer Robert Clark are all anticipated to be top gifts this holiday season.

To celebrate the new website and the holiday season, The UofSC Press is offering 50% off sitewide with promo code JEXT20 until December 23.

Established in 1944, the University of South Carolina Press is one of the oldest and most distinguished publishing houses in the South. With well over 1,100 books available in print and digital formats, and publishing approximately fifty new books annually, the Press enhances and expands the scholarly reputation and worldwide visibility of the University of South Carolina.
