U.S. 501 Bypass Flood Barrier Removal

Due to the receding waters of the Waccamaw River in the Conway area, SCDOT will begin operations to remove the flood barrier wall on U.S. 501 Bypass Monday, October 1, 2018 , at 10:00 AM.

Motorists are urged to avoid that area and use SC-22 in Horry County, however, the US 501 Bypass will have one lane of traffic moving in both directions during the removal operations.

Drivers should expect delays and congestion if they use that route. The flood barrier removal process will operate 24 hours per day until complete.

Workers will be on both sides of the highway. Please drive slow and use caution if using that route.
