United Community Bank Foundation Provide Support to Youth Corps

GREENVILLE, S.C. – July 22, 2021 – United Community Bank Foundation is pleased to share it has made a gift of $10,000 to Youth Corps, a life-changing leadership development experience for 36 outstanding 9th and 10th grade students in Richland & Lexington Counties. United Community Bank’s newly formed foundation will support organizations across the bank’s footprint that are aligned with the mission to improve the financial health of the communities the bank serves.

“Youth Corps serves an incredible purpose in our community by helping our young adults learn leadership skills that can be used throughout their life,” said Shannon Stephens, President in the Columbia market. “As a parent of a participant, I can say first-hand that Youth Corps offers an incredible confidence-building experience for our next generation of leaders.”

Austin McVay, VP and Commercial Relationship Manager for United Community Bank in Columbia, has been an active volunteer and member of the Board since 2017. McVay feels passionately about supporting Youth Corps as it positively changes lives of young people through development opportunities.

United Community Bank has been committed to community giving throughout its 70-year history. The bank created the Foundation in 2020 to help amplify and focus its community engagement efforts in meaningful ways. The Foundation’s initiatives will support the bank’s belief in the concept of “Together for Good” and will include both employee engagement and volunteer work as well as financial contributions to local organizations that align with employee efforts. The Foundation established four key focus areas based on a survey of what causes mattered most to bank employees:
