Columbia, S.C. (September 25, 2018) – United Way of the Midlands and Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands SC will host a Candidate Forum with South Carolina Senate District 20 candidates Benjamin Dunn (SC-R) and Dick Harpootlian (SC-D) on October 9, 2018 at 6:00 p.m.
“We’re excited to host our first Candidate Forum in partnership with Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands SC,” said Sara Fawcett, United Way of the Midlands President and CEO. “This event will give our partner agencies and community-minded individuals the ability to hear from the candidates on community issues and their plans to improve our community through legislation.”
The Candidate Forum will be a nonpartisan, question-and answer-format discussion moderated by John Dozier. Candidates will answer questions highlighting community issues they are passionate about.
“Every election is important, and our elected officials will help to shape legislation and programs that will impact our community for years to come,” said Michael Adams, Vice President of Business Development and Government Relations for Goodwill Industries of Upstate/Midlands South Carolina. “This is an opportunity for our local citizens to hear from the candidates firsthand and understand their views on topics like workforce development and the economy, which have significant implications for the people of District 22 and South Carolina.”
Registered attendees may submit questions for the candidates when signing up online. All questions will be vetted for appropriateness.
