USC Grad Appointed Assistant Director of Greek Life at PC

USC graduate Marissa Buck has been appointed Assistant Director of Greek Life at PC

Marissa Buck was an involved student and leader during her undergraduate days at the University of South Carolina. This past summer, Buck joined Presbyterian College as the assistant director of student involvement for fraternity and sorority life.

“My experiences outside the classroom (at USC) provided me with a fulfillment I couldn’t find anywhere else,” she said.

As a member of Delta Zeta sorority, Student Government Association, and other organizations, Buck found success and gratification in helping other students “develop into their best selves,” she says.

Plus, she was surrounded by others who knew the value that these outside-the-classroom experiences have to offer.

“Learning from mentors and professionals who understood the positive value that Greek Life brought to individuals, college campuses and communities changed my future before I knew it,” Buck said.

“I met and fostered relationships with people who chose to enhance the lives of college students every day. When I realized I could make a career out of helping students like myself, I was sold.”

After earning a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, Buck went on to earn a master’s degree in higher education & student affairs.

“I wanted to work somewhere that I could make a tangible impact on the life of every student I interacted with,” Buck said.

She plans to help PC students find their best selves and continue to learn about a field she loves.

“Since PC is a small community, I knew that I would be able to get to know and work with students on a more personal level,” she said.

“I was looking for a community with a thriving student experience where I could come in and work to enhance that experience and also learn from the staff and students around me.”
