COLUMBIA, SC – August 10, 2018 – Ras Kass, one of the most critically acclaimed lyricists in hip-hop history, will headline the “Straight, No Chase” tour hosted by Non-Stop Hip-Hop Live for Love, Peace & Hip-Hop on Thursday, August 16 at Tapp’s Arts Center in Downtown Columbia, SC.
The west coast legend is best known for his first two albums releases, Soul On Ice (1996) and Rasassination (1998), the latter of which charted as high as #11 on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and featured a high-powered list of features to include RZA (Wu-Tang), Twista, Xzibit, Mack 10, and Dr. Dre. Both albums are considered classics among avid hip-hop listeners and critics. Editors of About.com ranked Ras-Kass at #30 on their list of the Top 50 MCs of Our Time (1987–2007). Pitchfork Media called him “one of the best rappers of all time.”
Reuniting to host the Love, Peace & Hip-Hop powered event are Non-Stop Hip-Hop Live founders Sherard Duvall and Kingsley Waring, better known as Shekeese Tha Beast and Kingpin VOV.
“This is another amazing chapter in South Carolina history,” says Duvall. “I could not be happier that Kingpin and I will be able to reunite on stage together and that the Non-Stop Hip-Hop Live crew will be on deck for this historic show with a bonafide hip hop legend."
South Carolina’s godfather of hip-hop FatRat Da Czar will offer direct tour support, and will be joined by Soda’s heir to the hip hop throne, H3RO, and Charleston’s own rising star, Jah Jr.
Ras-Kass Straight, No Chase is Thursday, August 16 at Tapp’s Art Center (1644 Main St. Columbia, SC). Doors open at 8 PM.
